Nedabiah's Pension Information

Nedabiah was quite active in the Revolutionary War and served in several campaigns with family members and neighbors including his future brother in law Timothy Hodges. There are many pages in his military record. This page was chosen as it presents several pieces of information on a single document. It establishes that he is a pensioner and a very poor one at that. It provides age data for Nedabiah, wife Sarah and an unnamed son (Warren). It also documents the ill health of Nedabiah and his wife and implies health issues with the son Warren. Further, that without charity, he would become a “Town charge”. In that society, this would be the ultimate humiliation, and to a veteran, besides.  We can also see that he had left the town of Norton, Massachusetts and was living in the Town of Greenfield (Saratoga County, NY) and lastly we have a signature with the correct spelling of his given name.
