Special Recognition

Over the past two decades, the contributions of hundreds of people have made it possible for this task to proceed as far as it has. As a result, many friendships develop and it is natural for some of those friendships to become stronger than others. Some of those have been identified throughout the book, but these five people are of "special value" to me and the Likana Ohana.

Her family is responsible for the preservation of two letters that prove the connection of Nedabiah II to his son Lorenzo Lincoln who settled in Hawaii ca. 1836. Lorenzo was responsible for establishing the first known Lincoln family on the islands.

He was one of the first contacts when I began my research on the Hawaiian Lincolns.
His knowledge and patience with a is still remembered.
He was the best friend I never met.

He discovered the location of Lorenzo's grave, was a perfect host, and introduced me to the Hawaiian love of music.
His version of "Soul Shaker You Belong to Me" is the best.

She sent me the Wiamea Gazette article that linked the mainland and Hawaiian Lincolns.
Since then she has become the ohana mua and is personally responsible for the successful reunions that that were envisioned, but never seen, by Clayton Chee.

He began researching his family as a young man and collected a tremendous quantity of first hand history
of which we all have benefited from.
We can only imagine what would have been possible if he had not passed away at such a young age.
