Special Recognition
     Over the past two decades, the contributions of hundreds of people have made it possible for this task to proceed as far as it has. As a result, many friendships have developed and it is natural for some of those friendships to become stronger than others. Some of those, such as Jensen Apana and many others, have been identified throughout the book, but these five people are of "special value" to me and the Likana Ohana.

Barbara (Coulihan) Killgore and her family are responsible for the preservation of two letters that prove the connection of Nedabiah II to his son Lorenzo Lincoln who settled in Hawaii ca. 1836. Lorenzo was responsible for establishing the first known Lincoln family on the islands. Barbara is a descendant of Nedabiah II.

Allen Ai was one of the first contacts when I began my research on the Hawaiian Lincolns. His knowledge and patience is still remembered. He was the best friend I never met.

Vernon Lincoln discovered the location of Lorenzo's grave. On my visits to Hawaii he was a perfect host, and introduced me to the Hawaiian love of music. His version of  "You Belong to Me Soul Shaker" is the best.

 Rowena sent me the Wiamea Gazette article that linked the mainland and Hawaiian Lincolns. She was the ohana mua and was personally responsible for the successful reunions that were originally envisioned by Clayton Chee. Clayton was never able to attend because he passed in 2014 and the first reunion was 2015.

Clayton Chee began researching his family as a young man and collected a tremendous quantity of first hand history of which we all have benefited from. We can only imagine what would have been possible if he had not passed away at such a young age.
